About us

Greenway owners John Marinovich and Anne Greenway purchased the established vineyard in 2009  after many years of dreaming and searching for a parcel of land that captured their imagination.

A place to unwind, where time will stand still - just a little...

Wine Maker – Michael McManus

As custodians of the vines we have had the pleasure and benefit of working with wine maker Michael McManus.

Michael is an accomplished Hunter Valley Winemaker with whom we feel a privilege to be able to work with to define and create our elegantly styled wines.  He has adopted a minimalist approach to winemaking to ensure that the inherent flavour and personality of our fruit is maintained and enhanced throughout the winemaking process. He strives for perfection and has meticulous attention to detail.  Along with his artistic sensibilities, he ensures Greenway are high quality, handcrafted wines.

Wine Maker - Daniel Binet

Daniel Binet is fast becoming one of the Hunter Valley’s most recognized young winemakers. He
has a great ability to de-mystify the world of wine
in a natural and engaging way. Daniel has been a winemaker for over 17 years in the region, and we are thrilled to have Dan on our team!

“We always create wines that tell a story about the vineyard, the seasons and the style of the wine, almost everything is done by hand.” – Daniel Binet

“As the Australian wine industry roars ahead, on the coat-tails of success “young gun” winemakers like Daniel Binet are enjoying the freedom to tantalise our palates like never before” John Fordham – Sydney Morning Herald.

Chief Viticulturist - Jenny Bright

We love that Jenny has followed the grape from seedling right through to the bottle - and it is such knowledge as both a viticulturist and a winemaker that makes her counsel essential to our family of passionates at Greenway Wines. Jenny is a qualified winemaker/viticulturist, having completed the Bachelor of Applied Science (Wine Science) with Distinction, graduating as Dux of her class from Charles Sturt University.

In the 1990’s she had 10 years experience as the Chief Winemaker at Red Hill Estate on the Mornington Peninsula, then worked with local Hunter Valley winemaking identities such as Jim Chatto, Gary Reed and Greg Silkman at Monarch Winemaking Services in the early 2000’s.

Her interest then turned to helping vineyard owners and managers with vine and soil health with the view to improving wine grape quality, particularly in some of the newer viticultural areas of the Lower Hunter. Environmental sustainability and working with what Nature has provided rather than against it is a primary focus ...She believes good soil structure and biology are the bases of strong healthy vines and grapes. We are thankful to have Jenny looking over our shoulders and bossing us about!

Viticulturist – Neil Grosser

The act of making wine is only part of the journey and nurturing the vines to fruition the other.  Again we have found ourselves in great company with the viticultural wisdom of Neil Grosser who has some 40 years of experience behind him.

With Neil’s counsel we continue to refine and design the outcome of our wines.

Vineyard Dog - Harry

Vineyard Dog is an essential role in any working vineyard, and Harry takes his job very seriously.  Often seen patrolling the vines - and scoping out the ripest of the grapes - he has a special passion for shiraz!  When Anne and John bought the vineyard Harry could not believe his luck - it is after all his most favourite of places, and offers adventures that no ordinary suburban dog could dream of -  from chasing parrots, rabbits, the occasional neighbouring cow  and then diving down into the brook for a quick dip to refresh between adventures - and when it is all too hectic he relishes  just lying around under feet to ensure he is still the centre of the universe.  Stay tuned as there is sure there will be a wine honouring Harry.

Vineyard Boys - Samuel and Lucas

Greenway is a boutique family run business and the boys are  - well - the heart of the vineyard.
